Utmaro. Naniwaya Okita. Purchased in Tokyo early 1960s.
The central figure was a waitress who worked in the Naniwaya. The short poem on the left side of the print was composed by Katsura-No-Mayuzumi. The poem, roughly tranplated, is: “There is a beautiful girl named Okita in the famous tea-house, Naniwaya. All the travelers stop in at the tea-house to see this beautiful girl.
